In the Artist’s Words… Rose reflects a woman in today’s world. She totes a purse with a cell phone on her shoulder. She has an iPod strapped to her gold trunk. Her toenails are freshly polished! The roses covering her trunk represent the beauty, fragility, and determination of women. Puzzle shapes on her body represent the aspects of work, home, and family that women fit together in daily life. Silhouettes depicting women involved in meditation, yoga, and jogging show other aspects of a woman’s life. The butterflies pulling a pink fabric over her body symbolize both beauty and diversity.
