In the Artist’s Words… Our students said painting a five-foot, 175-pound fiberglass replica of a mastodon was challenging, fun, and awesome. For me, it was a unique opportunity to teach about the process of creating art on a mammoth (or mastodon) scale. Mast-o-mind communicates the benefits of lifelong learning. The design depicts the tree of knowledge as the source of open minds and new ideas. An overall vine pattern rooted in the feet of the mastodon sprouts light bulbs and golden keys.
