In the Artist’s Words… My wife Tammy and I are both big kids. She is the one who inspired Slinky, our second mastodon. Once Robert came up with the rebar idea, everyone wondered how we were going to bend it. Richard Gick, my father-in-law, and Robert created a homemade bending bar. That was the easy part. Making it sturdy and coating and painting it became our toughest obstacles. We ended up welding it and then having it plated. Slinky just didn’t happen easily.
