In the Artist’s Words… The real-life namesake of my mastodon is Paul Provost, an IPFW professor and anthropologist who conducted extensive field work with the Shipibo people in the Peruvian Amazon, the Tibetans in exile in northern India, the Aborigines of the Australian Outback, and the Nahua people in Mexico. I incorporated images and symbols from each of these cultures into a multilayered color treatment. The variety of images demonstrates how many different world views can peacefully coexist.
