In the Artist’s Words… In English, the name Miguel represents “Michael the Messenger.” Our Miguel is a passport to education. He displays flags of the countries the mastodon migrated to before becoming extinct. It is hoped he can be used as a teaching tool for children. I enjoy restoring a variety of art media including plaster, terra cotta, porcelain, and oil paintings. It’s a challenge to make things look as they were originally intended. It’s not surprising, then, that my mastodon looks like … well, a mastodon! Miguel also has a voice chip which communicates in English and Spanish.
