In the Artist’s Words… The idea was to create an architectural-looking mastodon with a simple and classical design. The original concept came from ancient Roman architecture — the Pantheon. Architecture Don’s legs were painted with Ionic columns to represent the strength of architecture. His body was painted with a coffered ceiling and an oculus which emphasize the architectural character.
