In the Artist’s Words… When the sponsor requested a tourist mastodon, I pictured him as a mismatched wanderer with plaid shorts, flowered shirt, black socks, and sandals. I figured he needed a hat of some kind and remembered the old hat my husband “inherited” from his uncle. It fit perfectly on Don D.’s head. Voila! Don D. says, “Welcome to Fort Wayne,” and “Don’t forget the sunscreen!”
