In the Artist’s Words… Bringing Leo to life has been a privilege for both of us. He is a true work of the heart. This fuzziest mastodon in the herd took us over 250 hours to create, including transit time. We live nearly an hour from the warehouse where he was stored. We based Leo’s design on the art style of my favorite artist, Jim Henson. Our goal was to come up with something fun, yet artsy. He had to have character. Jonna thinks he’s our fourth child. She cut over 3,240 feet of yarn for his mane and hand tailored his vest while I worked on his face.
