Mastodonny Appleseed to go on Sale Sept. 15

(Fort Wayne, September 11, 2007) — Two years ago, 102 Mastodons on Parade were scattered all over Fort Wayne, celebrating Fort Wayne's first community art project, which was Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne's 40th anniversary present to the community. A number of months later, IPFW offered the first in a series of limited edition collectibles. Splatodon was a big hit and sold out very quickly.

Gala/Auction Raises $175,000+ for United Way

(Fort Wayne, Oct. 24, 2005) — More than one thousand people gathered at the Grand Wayne Center Friday night, Oct. 21, with two thoughts in mind: raise a lot of money for the United Way of Allen County, and give the Mastodons on Parade a fitting finale. Both goals were not only met, but were exceeded by amounts even greater than hoped for.

Saturday Session Features Mastodons on Parade Book

(Fort Wayne, Oct. 19, 2005) — The official Mastodons on Parade book is coming to a bookstore near you! The book is being shipped at the end of this week and will be available in local bookstores beginning Monday, Oct. 24. On Saturday, Oct. 22, a Special Edition of IPFW’s Saturday Sessions at Mitchell Books will feature a behind the scenes look at putting the book together.

Masquerade Ball to Benefit United Way

(Fort Wayne, Oct. 13, 2005) — Halloween is coming a little early to downtown Fort Wayne. On Friday, Oct. 21, following the Mastodons on Parade Gala/Auction at the Grand Wayne Center, a Masquerade Ball will be held in the Indiana Hotel Lobby.

Mastodons on Parade Auctioned Online

(Fort Wayne, Oc.t 5, 2005) — Forty-nine Mastodons on Parade are now up for bids in an online auction conducted by The Steffen Group. People interested in bidding on the mastodons can go to the online auction to register and make a bid. Bids will be taken until Oct. 20.

Mastodons on Parade Gala/Auction Update

(Fort Wayne, Oct. 5, 2005) — Preparations are steaming full speed ahead for the Mastodons on Parade Gala/Auction Friday, Oct. 21, at the Grand Wayne Center. Nearly 1,000 reservations have been received for the event, which will feature the live auction of 16 full size and dozens of miniature mastodons. An additional 34 full-size mastodons will be available in a silent auction.

The Last Stampede of Mastodons on Parade

(Fort Wayne, Sept. 6, 2005) — Sunday, Oct. 9, will be the last gathering of the herd as the Mastodons on Parade get ready to go to their new homes. From 11 a.m.-4 p.m., the public is invited to Headwaters Park East, at the Lincoln Financial Pavilion, where they can hug their favorite mastodon one last time.

Fort Wayne Teen Wins Mastodon Hunt Contest

(Fort Wayne, May 27, 2005) — Seventeen-year-old Andrew Spooner of Fort Wayne didn’t believe it when the voice on the phone told him he had won a trip to Disney World. It wasn’t until News Channel 15’s Sandy Thomson, who was the emcee at the grand prize drawing, got on the phone, that he began to believe it.

Jungle Don Makes Tracks to Zoo Gates

(Fort Wayne, May 11, 2005) — For over a week strange sounds were coming from the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. These were not the normal nocturnal cries of the various animals and birds that live at the zoo. These were the cries of an unhappy mastodon!

Community Is Invited to Meet the Herd May 1

(Fort Wayne, April 7, 2005) — More than one hundred mastodons that will make up Mastodons on Parade will be “grazin’ in the grass” of Headwaters Park West on Sunday, May 1, from 3-5 p.m. at a free community party.

Mastodons on Parade Adoption Party
